Returning to Pickleball

The City of Camrose has given us permission to play pickleball on outdoor courts as of noon, Saturday, May 23rd.

We have 2 courts available on the tennis courts (across the parking lot from the recreation Centre).  The court is NOT restricted to Pickleball Play only. Tennis, ball hockey, etc. will all have the same rights to use this area.  It will remain a first come, first play area.

If you are a member of the Club you can use one of our temporary nets.  You supply your own balls.

Signage is posted at the courts.   On the City of Camrose website is the following statement:

“Users on courts must engage in solo play unless with members of the same household or family cohorts.”

The Club will not be organizing playing events or group play at this time.

Play safe and have fun….

Camrose Tournament Cancelled!

Hi Pickleball Players,

As most of you know, the coronavirus (COVID-19) has hit hard globally over the past couple weeks and things continue to evolve quickly.

We have been following the news, advice from health organizations and governments to understand the risks of the virus to a large gathering. After careful consideration, the Camrose Pickleball Club Board of Directors have made the decision to cancel the 2020 Camrose Open Tournament scheduled on May 16 and 17, 2020 and move it to 2021.

Health Canada continues to advise that frequent hand washing, minimal touching, and social distancing are the best defense against the virus. A reminder to all Pickleball Snowbirds to self-isolate upon arrival, even that quick stop on the way home for groceries should be avoided. Reach out to your Pickleball family if needed or a neighbour. Together we’ll get through this.

We all wish we could play pickleball. Be assured that once we receive the okay from the City of Camrose to resume to gather and play pickleball, we will let you know.

In the meantime, please stay safe and healthy.

Open House!

Today we invited the Community to join us to experience the Pickleball craze! 40+ people visited us! Many picked up a paddle and tried the sport; others sat back, enjoyed some refreshments and watched the pickleball mania! A great time was had by our guests and members alike. Many left with the first signs of pickleball addiction; huge smiles… sweaty faces… and a look of amazement on their faces that they were actually able to hit the ball!

THANK YOU to everyone who made it such a success!

Canada Day at the Max!

Canada Day was celebrated by 19 players enjoying Ladder Play dressed in Canadian Colours. Fun time by everyone! Great opportunity for a group photo…

A snack was provided (THANK YOU Donna D.)!

Outdoor Play / Facebook / Waivers

You are invited to play pickleball outside on the tennis court on the south side of the Reservoir; across from the Max McLean Arena at 4512 – 53 St.

Scheduled times for play outside are:
Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday 8:30 am
Monday, Wednesday & Friday 6:30 pm

That said, feel free to PLAY ANYTIME you get the urge. Just contact a few players, or put an invitation on our Facebook page. The storage box at the court contains one pickleball net. Another net can be obtained at the Max. All members of the Club have access to the combination of the lock.

You haven’t joined our Facebook page? Check it out at:

It’s a great way to stay up to date with all the happenings of our Club and an easy way to connect with other members, particularly to arrange outdoor play. Cancellations due to weather for outdoor play may also be posted here. This is the only place where video’s are posted of member play.

Note: There is a WAIVER in the binder in the storage box. (This can also be found at the Max.) All participants and those members who have not read our waiver MUST sign the ‘waiver agreement sheet’ BEFORE they play.

Here’s to great weather… and fewer windy days. Let’s Play!
